Scuba Season
Underwater at Khor Sham South Wall

Khor Sham South Wall

Dive site

The southern face of Khor Sham bay presents a different character to its northern counterpart — shallower at the head of the bay with extensive hard coral gardens at 6 to 15 m giving way to a sand slope populated by garden eels, and the deeper sections hosting large schools of batfish and the endemic Arabian spadefish. The reduced current on this sheltered wall makes it ideal for macro work and photography, with resident frogfish reliably found on the sponge-covered boulders at 20 m. Spinner dolphin pods are frequently visible from the surface, and October to March brings whale shark sightings from inside the khor, often in the 7 to 9 m visibility window typical of the cooler months.
