Fahal Island
Muscat · Oman
A rocky sentinel rising from the Gulf of Oman just 8 kilometres offshore from Muscat, Fahal Island delivers big-animal encounters that rival far-flung destinations — whale sharks cruise the blue water seasonally while enormous schools of chevron barracuda spiral in glittering tornadoes above the reef. The island's submarine walls drop steeply past 30 metres, encrusted with soft corals and sea fans, and strong upwellings funnel nutrients that draw pelagic life close. This is Muscat's headline dive.
