Camayan Reef

Dive site

Camayan Reef is a broad platform reef extending across 200 meters of Nasugbu's inner bay, with a hard coral crest at 8 meters dropping to sand at 22 meters. The inshore position makes it unusually sheltered for the South China Sea coast of Batangas, and the calmer water supports exceptional hard coral recovery since the bay was declared a municipal marine sanctuary. Large schools of fusiliers and cardinalfish hover over the reef at dusk, attracting hunting trevally from the deeper edge, and the sandy bottom margins host garden eels and periodic sightings of flying gurnard. Ideally suited to early-morning first dives before the bay wind picks up.
