Underwater at Devil's Point

Devil's Point

Dive site

Devil's Point earns its name from the fierce tidal currents that scour its rocky promontory at peak flow, when water tears past at more than two knots and makes neutral buoyancy a genuine skill test. The reward is an overwhelming concentration of pelagic life: schools of big-eye scad, dogtooth tuna, and great barracuda hold station in the turbulence, feeding on the nutrient upwelling. At slack water the site becomes diveable by intermediate divers and reveals an underlying hard coral garden at 12 to 22 meters with an exceptional density of glassy sweepers and anthias. Timing a dive to the tidal window is essential; local operators know the tables.
