Underwater at Magna Bay Coral Garden

Magna Bay Coral Garden

Dive site

The northernmost dive site in Saudi waters, tucked into Magna Bay just south of the Saudi-Jordanian border. A broad coral garden slopes from the waterline to 25 m across a gradually descending basalt shelf — the volcanic origin of the seafloor giving the hard corals a uniquely dark substrate backdrop. Table corals here reach widths rarely seen further south, and the aggregations of schooling anthias above them are dense enough to block the light. The site is emerging as a pilot zone for NEOM's marine research program, with permanent transect markers installed by Saudi Aramco marine scientists in 2023.
