Agatti House Reef
North Lakshadweep · India
Agatti's house reef runs along the outer edge of the atoll immediately west of the island's single resort and is the most accessible dive in all of Lakshadweep — the reef top is a five-minute swim from the beach. The outer wall drops from 5 m to 35 m, carpeted in sea fans and large brain corals, with hawksbill turtles grazing on sponges at 12 to 20 m. Reef mantas use the corner bommie as a regular cleaning station from November through February; the cleaner fish are wrasse juveniles working the surface of two large coral heads at 14 m. Napoleon wrasse up to 1.5 m appear on every afternoon dive. Because Agatti has the only commercial airstrip in Lakshadweep, divers staying here can explore the reef the same evening they arrive.
