Bangaram Lagoon Drop-off
North Lakshadweep · India
The north-facing drop-off on Bangaram's outer rim is a steeper and more sheltered dive than the atoll's famous manta point on the east side. The wall starts at 6 m and plunges to 38 m in a series of coral terraces draped in lettuce coral, large seafans, and whip corals. At 22 m a ledge undercut creates a swim-through tunnel roughly 15 m long colonised by glassfish and attended by small white-tip reef sharks resting in the shadows. Green turtles use the base of the wall as a sleeping station at night. Visibility is exceptional during the northeast monsoon season and the sheltered aspect means the wall is diveable on days when the exposed manta point is too rough.
