Nosy Mitsio
Nosy Be · Madagascar
A remote granite archipelago 60 kilometres northeast of Nosy Be, Nosy Mitsio is where Madagascar's diving ascends from excellent to genuinely world-class — offshore passages funnel nutrient-rich current past cathedral pinnacles draped in soft coral while humpback whales pass close enough to hear their songs through the hull. The site rewards liveaboard investment: multiple exposed seamounts, walls that plunge to 60 metres, and a humpback whale nursery area used July through September combine to create a destination that feels like a secret the Indian Ocean has not yet revealed. Shark encounters are routine, pelagic diversity rivals Cocos Island, and surface intervals between dives can include whale watching from the deck.
