Parete North Wall

Nosy Iranja · Madagascar

The north wall of Nosy Iranja is one of Madagascar's celebrated wall dives, plunging from 8 metres on the reef crest to beyond 30 metres along a near-vertical face decorated with gorgonian fans, barrel sponges, and dense soft coral clusters. Visibility here is frequently superior to the Nosy Be sites, often exceeding 25 metres in the dry season. Reef sharks patrol the wall's midwater column, and schools of jackfish, Spanish mackerel, and barracuda sweep past in the blue. Green turtles feed on the sponge-encrusted wall face. During October through December, whale sharks and manta rays pass in open water beyond the wall edge, making surface intervals as exciting as the dive itself.
