Toyapakeh
Nusa Penida · Indonesia
Toyapakeh sits on the northwest tip of Nusa Penida where the Lombok Strait narrows and tidal currents accelerate dramatically, making this one of the most exhilarating drift dives in Bali. The site is a wide sloping reef that falls from the shallows to a sandy bottom at around 30 m, studded with hard coral formations and patrolled by large schools of fusiliers, trevally, and barracuda. Strong currents carry divers along the reef at pace, and the upwellings bring cold, nutrient-rich water that sustains dense fish life. Garden eels carpet the sandy patches between coral heads. Timing the current window is critical — this site demands experience with drift diving.
