Sunabe Seawall
Okinawa Main Island · Japan
Sunabe Seawall is Okinawa's most celebrated shore dive and a world-class macro site running along a concrete retaining wall in Chatan. The rubble and sand slope beneath the wall harbours ghost pipefish, frogfish in multiple colour morphs, seahorses, nudibranchs, flatworms, and mimic octopus. Night dives reveal cuttlefish, lionfish hunting in the shallows, and sleeping sea turtles. Entry is straightforward from the roadside, making this the island's most accessible and frequently dived site.
