Underwater at Ngerchong Island Wall

Ngerchong Island Wall

Dive site

Ngerchong Island's western wall is one of Palau's best-kept secrets among liveaboard divers, a deeply undercut vertical reef draped with some of the densest sea fan and black coral assemblages in Micronesia. The wall runs from 5 meters and descends past recreational limits, with an overhanging section between 18 and 30 meters that creates a permanent shadow zone colonised by flashlight fish and dense anthias clouds. Reef sharks patrol the base and Napoleon wrasse are resident. Compared to the surge of divers at Blue Corner and Ngemelis, Ngerchong sees far less traffic, giving wildlife more natural behaviour and photographers cleaner compositions.
