Yellow Wall
Palau Rock Islands South · Palau
Yellow Wall earns its name from an extraordinary density of golden soft corals, yellow sea fans, and lemon-coloured encrusting sponges that cover virtually every centimetre of the reef face from 12 to 35 metres. The wall is part of the outer western barrier and receives regular current that feeds the filter feeders to spectacular effect. Anthias clouds the water column in thousands, pygmy seahorses hide in sea fan branches, and mandarin fish emerge at dusk in the rubble patches at the wall base. Visibility is characteristically outstanding, making wide-angle photography of the coral gardens exceptional.
