Napaling Point
Panglao · Philippines
Napaling Point on Panglao's northern coast is where the island's reef system meets open-water exchange currents from the Bohol Sea, producing one of the most consistently impressive wall dives in Bohol. The reef crest at 3 to 5 metres gives way abruptly to a plunging wall dense with massive sea fans, whip corals, and enormous barrel sponges, each sponge hosting its own ecosystem of allied clingfish, imperial shrimp, and commensal snapping shrimp. Schools of batfish hover at the wall's midpoint while guitarfish and leopard sharks rest on the sand shelf at 30 metres. The point's exposed position means current is the rule rather than the exception, and on good flow days barracuda form spiralling curtains above the crest and small pods of bottlenose dolphins are occasionally encountered cruising the surface above the drop-off.
