South Drop
Pescador Island · Philippines
The southern tip of Pescador Island shelters a calmer face that rewards patient divers with the island's densest macro life. The wall here is more gradual than the western drop and is covered in leather corals, soft tree corals, and large barrel sponges that host cleaning stations busy with cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp. Giant moray eels are plentiful and often found resting in the open during daylight hours. The sand at the base of the wall at 25 to 30 metres is productive ground for hairy frogfish, robust ghost pipefish, and the occasional flamboyant cuttlefish. The reduced current compared to the north and west faces makes this suitable for divers still building confidence with Pescador's stronger conditions.
