Coral Garden
Pigeon Island · Sri Lanka
Coral Garden is the shallowest and most accessible dive site at Pigeon Island, a broad expanse of living reef beginning at just 3 metres that makes it ideal for snorkellers, student divers, and underwater photographers chasing natural light images. The coral coverage here is among the most intact on Sri Lanka's east coast, with fields of staghorn Acropora interspersed with brain and star corals creating a dense three-dimensional structure. Parrotfish continuously graze the reef surface, their beak-scraping audible on every dive, while resident porcupinefish and pufferfish drift lazily between coral heads in a scene of unhurried tropical abundance.
