Mona Island hosts one of the densest Caribbean reef shark aggregations in Puerto Rican waters, with individuals cruising the wall drop-offs at depths of 15–35 m. Their presence reflects the reserve's strict no-take status, which has allowed predator populations to recover significantly over the past two decades.
