Giant trevally frequently patrol the open water column above the Sanko Maru, using the wreck as a hunting reference point in the otherwise featureless harbour floor. They work in small packs, herding glassfish against the hull in coordinated bursts of speed. Their presence indicates a healthy prey base within the wreck ecosystem and regularly draws divers to the site even on calm mid-week mornings.
