Overview
Magic Point, located off Maroubra in Sydney, Australia, is a critical aggregation site for the critically endangered Grey Nurse Shark. Divers can explore a series of rocky gutters and small caves, providing shelter for these majestic sharks as well as wobbegongs and various temperate reef fish. The site is known for its seasonal shark encounters, offering a unique opportunity to observe these placid creatures in their natural habitat. Currents can be moderate, and visibility varies.
Briefing note
Visibility and currents can be unpredictable. Respect local wildlife guidelines, especially regarding Grey Nurse Sharks.

How we summarise this
We aggregate confirmed occurrence records from GBIF and OBIS within a fixed radius of each dive site. Occurrence records confirm presence and reveal seasonality clustering, but they DO NOT measure per-dive probability — there is no eligible-effort denominator. We deliberately do not publish a numeric '% chance of sighting' from this data.
