Sea Lion Rock
Dive site
A submerged rock shelf 2 km north of the jetties where a small group of Australian sea lions rest and forage. Juveniles are especially interactive with divers, engaging in spiralling chase games in the kelp. The substrate is a mix of coralline algae, sea tulips, and encrusting sponge typical of temperate South Australian reefs. Visibility is better here than at the jetty sites because the sandy bottom remains undisturbed. Best accessed by boat from Rapid Bay or Normanville.
