Black Rock Cook Islands
Rarotonga, Cook Islands · Cook Islands
A dramatic basalt outcrop on Rarotonga's northwest coast drops into a wall that plunges to 40 metres, collecting seasonal manta rays between August and November when plankton blooms concentrate in the current along this exposed headland. The volcanic structure itself is worth the dive even outside manta season, with dense gorgonian sea fans and large barrel sponges colonising the wall below 20 metres.
