Enuamanu Wall
Rarotonga, Cook Islands · Cook Islands
Enuamanu on Rarotonga's southern reef edge is the island's most impressive deep wall dive, dropping from the reef crest at 5 metres over a sheer limestone face into water exceeding 400 metres. The upper 30 metres of wall is encrusted with sea fans, black coral trees, and clusters of soft coral in orange and purple, with clouds of anthias hovering off the face. Grey reef sharks and the occasional silvertip patrol the wall's edge, and manta ray sightings are reliable between December and April when plankton blooms bring them in to feed. In the July to October window, humpback whales pass close enough to the wall to be seen in the water column beyond the blue.
