Lighthouse Bommie
Ribbon Reefs & Cod Hole · Australia
A large coral bommie rising from 28 metres to within 6 metres of the surface, festooned with sea fans, soft corals, and encrusting sponges in colours that look oversaturated even without a torch. The structure acts as a cleaning station for turtles and a permanent residence for shoaling glassfish that attract trevally and mackerel. Dwarf minke whales frequently surface nearby during the austral winter. Mild current makes the dive comfortable and adds gentle drift past the coral faces.
