No. 10 Ribbon Reef Wall

Ribbon Reefs & Cod Hole · Australia

The outer face of Ribbon Reef No. 10 presents an unbroken vertical wall dropping from the surge zone at 3 metres to well beyond recreational diving depth. Hard coral coverage on the upper wall is among the highest recorded anywhere on the Great Barrier Reef, with staghorn and table Acropora forming dense gardens down to 20 metres before giving way to sea fans, black coral, and deepwater gorgonians. Pelagic action is reliable — large schools of barracuda, dogtooth tuna, and the occasional grey reef shark patrol the blue water alongside the wall.
