Seahorse Colony at Isla Grande
Dive site
A shallow sheltered bay on the lee side of Isla Grande hosts what local dive guides describe as the largest known concentration of longsnout seahorses in the Colombian Caribbean, with multiple individuals often visible simultaneously anchored to the same sea fan or clump of wire coral. The site runs from 4 to 15 m across a sandy floor interspersed with isolated coral heads, and the stillness of the water — protected from the northeast trade winds by the island itself — means visibility frequently exceeds 15 m even after rain. Frogfish and nudibranchs add to the macro interest along the rubble margins, and occasional spotted eagle rays cruise through the bay in the early morning before boat traffic arrives. This is unquestionably one of the finest dedicated macro dives on Colombia's Caribbean coast.
