Coral Gardens North
Saba Bank · Netherlands (Caribbean)
The northern shallows of Saba Bank form an enormous plateau of hard coral stretching in every direction, rarely exceeding 22 metres depth. Coral Gardens North showcases the Bank at its most approachable: the terrain is relatively flat, currents are generally gentler than the exposed ridges, and the coral density is extraordinary. Brain corals two metres in diameter, towering pillar corals, and extensive staghorn thickets make this one of the most visually striking shallow reef environments in the Atlantic. Hawksbill turtles feed among the corals and appear to be habituated to diver presence. The site is suitable for a wide range of experience levels when conditions are calm.
