The Pinnacles
Saba Bank · Netherlands (Caribbean)
A cluster of five isolated coral pinnacles on the southwestern edge of Saba Bank, each rising from 40 metres to between 15 and 20 metres depth. The isolation of these structures concentrates fish life dramatically: tiger grouper patrol the bases, schoolmaster snappers form dense curtains around the midwater sections, and spotted eagle rays cruise the blue water between pinnacles. The site sits at the edge of the Bank's main plateau, meaning open-ocean species mix freely with reef residents. Currents can run strongly here and visibility into the blue is exceptional — it is not unusual to spot larger pelagics passing in the distance.
