Frigate Bay Reef
Saint Kitts and Nevis · Saint Kitts and Nevis
Frigate Bay's fringing reef system runs along the southeast coast of Saint Kitts in a broad band from 5 to 25 metres, sheltered by the peninsula from Atlantic swells and featuring some of the best close-encounter turtle diving in the Lesser Antilles. Green and hawksbill turtles are seen on virtually every dive, often at near arm's length, while southern stingrays cruise the sandy corridors and spotted eagle rays sweep along the outer reef edge. The volcanic substrate gives the reef unusual relief with dramatic undercuts and swim-throughs draped in orange cup corals.
