River Taw Wreck
Saint Kitts and Nevis · Saint Kitts and Nevis
The River Taw is a 225-foot ocean-going tug deliberately sunk in 1985 as an artificial reef, and in the four decades since it has transformed into one of the Caribbean's most biologically productive wreck dives. Sitting upright in 30 metres with the wheelhouse accessible at 18 metres, the wreck is completely colonised — black coral bushes grow from every exposed surface, enormous barrel sponges occupy the deck, and resident great barracuda patrol the bow. Lion's mane jellyfish and pelagic visitors drift past in the blue water column above, making safety stop time as rewarding as the wreck itself.
