Resident groups of bottlenose dolphins use the island's channel as a permanent home range, feeding on reef fish and accompanying dive boats as a matter of habit. They are highly social and communicate through a repertoire of clicks, whistles, and burst-pulse sounds. Calves are born year-round and remain with their mothers for up to six years, learning foraging strategies within the pod.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
