Alghero Red Coral Gardens
Dive site
The seabed off Alghero hosts the densest known populations of Mediterranean red coral (Corallium rubrum) accessible to sport divers. Colonies crown ledges and overhang ceilings at 25 to 40 metres, their crimson branches contrasting against the white limestone bedrock. The site sits inside the Capo Caccia — Isola Piana Marine Protected Area; no collection permitted. Brown meagre, scorpionfish, and comber occupy the same ledge systems.
