Dirk Hartog Island Wall
Shark Bay · Australia
The western face of Dirk Hartog Island — the largest island in Western Australia — drops away in a series of ledges and undercuts frequented by wobbegong sharks, large snapper, and schools of trevally. Tiger sharks are a regular presence, as are loggerhead and green turtles. The site is exposed to Indian Ocean swells, which concentrates nutrients and drives excellent pelagic activity along the wall.
