Francois Peron Bommies
Shark Bay · Australia
Scattered coral bommies off the Francois Peron National Park coastline provide structure in an otherwise flat bay environment. Resident reef fish, octopus, and moray eels colonise the heads, which also attract hunting tiger sharks and large stingrays. The red-ochre cliffs of the peninsula form a dramatic backdrop above the surface while the bommies below hold some of the bay's most concentrated fish life.
