Daco Island Reef
Siargao · Philippines
Daco Island sits southeast of General Luna and is ringed by a mosaic of reef, rubble, and sandy muck that is arguably the best macro diving in Siargao. Pygmy seahorses cling to sea fans at 18 to 22 metres, and the sandy channels between coral heads host blue-ringed octopus, ornate ghost pipefish, and a diversity of nudibranch species that draws underwater macro photographers from across the Philippines. The reef crest holds healthy staghorn and Acropora thickets with clownfish anemone gardens and schools of anthias.
