Naked Island Channel
Siargao · Philippines
The tidal channel between Naked Island and the surrounding islets funnels current-rich water and concentrates schooling fish in impressive numbers. Jacks, fusiliers, and surgeonfish form dense tornados in the mid-water column while grey reef sharks patrol the channel floor at 18 to 28 metres. During whale shark season (March to May) the channel is a reliable aggregation point; whale shark encounters are frequent with 30 to 45 minute sightings at the surface and shallow dives. The reef along the channel walls is in excellent condition with thick soft-coral growth.
