Proselyte Reef
Sint Maarten / Saint-Martin · Sint Maarten
HMS Proselyte, a British Royal Navy frigate that foundered in 1801, rests in 10–18 m on a sandy reef flat south of Sint Maarten, forming the centrepiece of one of the most accessible historic wreck dives in the eastern Caribbean. The ship's cannons, anchors, and iron ballast bars lie scattered across the reef in a photogenic debris field colonised by colourful soft corals, Christmas tree worms, and moray eels. Calm conditions and shallow depth make Proselyte ideal for all certification levels, and the surrounding reef teems with parrotfish, French angelfish, and spotted drum.
