Mirissa Whale Alley
Dive site
The deep water canyon 10 to 15 km south of Mirissa is one of the most reliable places in the world to encounter blue whales, which feed and transit here between November and April as they follow the upwelling off the continental shelf. Sperm whales are resident year-round in the adjacent deep water. This is a snorkel and in-water observation site rather than a scuba dive given the open-ocean depths involved.
