Pigeon Island Reef

Dive site

Pigeon Island National Park near Trincomalee on the east coast holds some of the highest hard coral cover in Sri Lanka, with branching and massive coral gardens from 1 to 20 m. The island's sheltered east bay is famous for a permanent resident population of blacktip reef sharks that cruise the shallows, while the outer reef boulders hold large humphead parrotfish, bumphead parrotfish schools and giant grouper exceeding 80 kg.
