Yongala Amidships
SS Yongala Wreck · Australia
The midship section is where the Yongala's schooling fish aggregations reach their greatest density, with enormous baitballs of fusiliers and batfish swirling around the superstructure in a living tornado of silver. Green sea turtles are a constant presence here, resting on coral-encrusted deck rails or cruising unhurriedly through the schools of fish, utterly indifferent to divers. The upper deck at 15 metres is covered in soft corals and sea fans that make this section one of the most photogenic stretches of the wreck.
