Schools of giant trevally patrol the bow structure in tight formation, occasionally breaking into explosive bursts of speed as they herd baitfish against the hull. These powerful predators can exceed a metre in length and their silver flanks catch the filtered sunlight in dramatic flashes. They are a constant companion at the Yongala and an indicator of the extraordinary productivity of this ecosystem.
