Whitetip reef sharks rest in groups on the sand alongside the wreck during the day, their slender bodies pressed against the steel hull or tucked beneath coral overhangs. At dusk they become active hunters, weaving through the wreck's corridors in pursuit of small fish and crustaceans. Their relatively docile daytime behaviour makes them excellent subjects for close-up observation.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
