The Queensland grouper, also called the giant grouper, is the world's largest bony reef fish and the Yongala hosts some of the most approachable individuals on the planet. These fish have lived alongside divers for generations and show no fear, hovering at arm's length with their massive gaping mouths and watchful eyes. Their size — up to 270 kilograms — makes every close encounter a humbling reminder of what protected marine ecosystems can produce.

How is this calculated?

Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
