French angelfish are among the most conspicuous residents of El Aquario, patrolling territories around coral heads in mated pairs that mate for life. They feed primarily on sponges, which make up the bulk of their diet, and serve as cleaning station attendants for larger fish species. Their bold black-and-yellow coloration and curious temperament make them a favourite subject for underwater photographers at this site.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
