Underwater at Sombrero Island

Sombrero Island

Dive site

Sombrero Island, shaped like its namesake hat when viewed from the sea, is a small rocky outcrop off Tingloy's southwest tip that offers the most varied dive in the area. A wall on the north face drops to 35 meters and is plastered in orange encrusting sponge and sea fans, while the south face transitions to a rubble muck slope ideal for small critters. Eagle rays are sighted several times a year over the wall, resident hawksbill turtles graze on the sponge communities, and the rocky shallows host nudibranchs in exceptional variety. The site is often combined with Mainit Point for a full-day Tingloy itinerary.
