Tiger Point

Tioman Island Outer Reefs · Malaysia

Tiger Point is Tioman's premier pelagic dive — a submerged rocky pinnacle that rises from 50 metres to 20 metres on the island's south-eastern corner, where the reef wall channels currents and concentrates baitfish in quantities large enough to attract tiger sharks. Encounters are seasonal and unpredictable, but operators report tiger shark sightings most consistently in March through June when the inter-monsoon current reversal brings cooler, nutrient-rich water. Grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and hammerheads are recorded as bycatch of the pinnacle's strong tidal flow, and the walls themselves carry dense soft coral growth.
