Bomba Channel Muck
Togean Islands · Indonesia
The sandy and silty channel between Pulau Bomba and the Togean mainland is one of Central Sulawesi's best muck diving sites, almost completely undiscovered by dive tourism. Crocodilefish lie motionless on open sand. Mimic octopus, wonderpus, and coconut octopus are all present. Thorny seahorses grip strands of debris at 8 to 15 m. Hairy frogfish are found on sponge patches throughout the site. The channel also harbours endemic Togean species including the Togean white-eye (a seahorse variant described from Tomini Bay waters). Night dives here are exceptional, with mandarin fish active on shallow rubble patches at dusk.
