Kadidiri Coral Garden
Togean Islands · Indonesia
Kadidiri island's house reef is a textbook coral garden: a sloping reef from 3 to 25 m with exceptional coverage of branching and plating Acropora, extensive fields of Porites lobata, and dense shoals of damselfish, anthias, and basslet hovering above the coral. The site is rarely dived by more than a few people at once and fish behaviour is exceptionally natural. Epaulette sharks are found resting in shallow rubble margins. Pygmy cuttlefish hunt at dusk along the coral edge. The site functions as a genuine benchmark of what undisturbed Coral Triangle reef looks like, with no bleaching reported in recent surveys.
