Nurse sharks rest in groups beneath coral overhangs and in sandy channels throughout Buccoo's lagoon system. As benthic predators they keep invertebrate populations in check, and their docile nature makes them iconic subjects for divers. Multiple individuals are often seen on a single dive, a sign of a reef with intact elasmobrach communities.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
