Munkholmen Island
Trondheim Fjord · Norway
A small islet 2 km offshore from Trondheim city centre, Munkholmen offers accessible cold-water diving on boulder slopes descending to 20 m, with old monastery foundations creating a complex of sheltered crevices that harbour wolf fish, cusk, and large common seals. The combination of historical structure and marine life makes it the most beginner-friendly cold-water dive in the Trondheim area — and the ferry runs in summer, so shore-based access is feasible.
