Scuba Season
Underwater at Black Grouper Spawning Point

Black Grouper Spawning Point

Turneffe Atoll · Belize

Each December and January, black grouper aggregate by the hundreds at a pair of submerged pinnacles on Turneffe's southwest margin — one of the largest documented grouper spawning aggregations in Belize and a key site in the country's aggregation protection program. Outside spawning season the site hosts large cubera snapper, hawksbill turtles, and eagle ray patrols.
